We are seeking a Security Specialist to support operations in Newport, RI. This role is crucial in maintaining security protocols, ensuring proper identification issuance, and overseeing access control procedures.

Responsibilities
- Manage the accountability, control, verification, and issuance of military ID cards and Common Access Cards (CAC) for active-duty personnel, reservists, retirees, dependents, and other eligible recipients
- Perform all functions of a Verifying Official, including processing ID requests, verifying documentation, and ensuring compliance with Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and Real-Time Automated Identification System (RAPIDS)
- Install and maintain hardware components, run audit reports, and manage users, security settings, cardstock, and consumables
- Issue identification tags, Geneva Convention Cards, and memorandums of authorization for base access, Commissary, and Post Exchange privileges
- Conduct routine maintenance on ID card issuance equipment, including computers and printers, ensuring operational efficiency
- Perform RAPIDS security overrides for document and fingerprint support, mentoring and training new Verifying Officials as needed
- Maintain strict security protocols by controlling access to facilities, monitoring for unusual activity, and reporting security threats to the appropriate personnel
- Conduct patrols, enforce security measures, and observe/report suspicious activity to the quarterdeck via radio or telephone
- Manage keys for building access and ensure the secure handling of sensitive identification materials
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on work activities, ensuring compliance with security and operational guidelines
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a favorable background check and security investigation
- At least one year of experience as a site leader in a customer service or human resources-related role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience operating basic office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, scanners).
- Ability to type at least 25 words per minute
- Prior experience working on CAC or similar government contracts is highly desirable
- Strong familiarity with military operations and protocols is preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English
- Ability to work in high-paced environments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must successfully complete RAPIDS certification within seven business days of hire
